Jess’ Personal Blog November 2014: Pregnancy Overwhelm

How can it be November? How can I be 30 weeks pregnant?!! This pregnancy has flown by. I’ve actually felt a little overwhelmed recently. Worrying about how I’ll manage when the baby comes, will I have enough time to get everything done in time for baby, how will I cope with running a business (well two) with a new baby….. Time for my personal blog November 2014.

These are the types of things flying round in my head every day.  This is how I’ve been trying to deal with my pregnancy overwhelm so far:

1. Planning – firstly planning calms me, it helps me regain control of my life. I mainly use two planners – my Filofax and my Erin Condren Life Planner. Getting a handle of what I need to get done instantly makes me feel better. One of my stress triggers is when I know I have lots to do but I’m not clear on what! I’m not going to go into it too much here as I plan on writing a separate post about planning.

2. Relaxing – I’m taking time out to relax. Maybe a bath, sit down to watch a TV programme, read etc. I’ve also booked my Reiki, Crystal Healing and Chakra Balancing for today. I’ve not had one while I’ve been pregnant and it’s been long overdue.

3. Reading up – I’m trying to arm myself with as much information as I can. I’ve never done this before so I haven’t got a clue.

4. Honoring my fatigue – it’s taken me a long while to get to this point. I felt that if I had a nap I was weak or that I’m far too busy to take one. Well growing a baby is tiring! My priority is looking after me and my baby so if mama needs to nap she will!!! I don’t need to be superwoman.

On the FBH side we’ve been busy continuing to grow our audience and get blog posts out. I’m also trying to get some blog posts written in advance so I can schedule them during my time off. I plan to write as much as I can when baby arrives but it might not be as often and I just don’t know how things will be until they happen. I want to enjoy time with my new baby and not stressing over getting a blog post out. I’m also very lucky in the fact I have Janine as my business partner. Janine understands that my priority is my family and if I really can’t get something done then well it doesn’t get done. I’ll pay her back in wine 🙂

This weekend Phil is taking me on our Babymoon. For those unfamiliar with the term it’s one last little trip together for just the two of you. The last one as a couple. We are off to the lovely Cotswold House Hotel and Spa for a long weekend. I can already hear the spa calling my name!

  1. I’m glad you acknowledge that you don’t need to be Superwoman, Jess. It’s such a temptation for us all to try. I often remind my self that you can have it all – but not all at the same time!
