Entrepreneur Friday – Jade Haselrig
Time for another Entrepreneur Friday where we interview female business owners. This week we have the fabulous Jade Haselrig from Dirty Peaches – a fantastic candle shop.
Tell us a bit about your business and your inspiration behind it
My inspiration for creating Dirty Peaches Candles was indeed my commitment to Relaxation, individuality, and creative essence. As a creator, I value expression. I aspire to empower women from all walks of life through the power of self love and healing. I provide affordable, therapeutic, and charming products to Dirty Peach enjoyers. All aromatherapy candles are hand poured by myself in my home. There are constantly new ideas for uniquely themed collections being explored to add to DP, I collaborate with and am always seeking various feminist artists to paint the containers that can be reused as flower pots, drinking glasses etc.
The name Dirty Peaches implies that life can still be sweet past the issues we face on our journey. The motto for my business would definitely “Dirty Peaches candles celebrates the beauty within our imperfections.”
Tell us your favorite tools that make life easier
Although I love doing most of my networking through real life interactions, Dirty Peaches is relatively new. I aim to expand the reach and audience. Fortunately, in this day and age I have the social media tools right at my finger tips to help me gain international popularity and become a more successful online business. Etsy, Instagram and Facebook are the three main platforms I currently use to promote my brand.
What was your lightbulb moment?
For three whole years DPC was only an unexecuted dream. In 2014 While working in an organic spa as an esthetician, I grew to appreciate and note the benefits of being in a pleasant atmosphere. Setting the environment up to match my mood became second hand nature. I also began adding meditation into my life which brought me closer to my true passions, massive interest was sparked for tranquility, and clearing negativity via color and scent focus. I developed the concept of custom designs on natural scented candle dedicated to helping people to unwind in their homes. With trial and error I taught myself how to boil & pour candles. Unfortunately I’ve never been very good at painting or drawing but have always appreciated the rawness that most painters put into their work on the canvas, so I thought why not display their illustrations on my recyclable jars.
Who and what inspires you?
I am constantly seeking inspiration from the nature and people around me. I love flowers, feminine energies and authenticity. Yet my mother has been the main positive influence in my life, being a woman who sets out to chase her dreams and tackling what life dishes out, with a smile. She taught me how to set out a plan and execute it no matter how impossible it may seem.
What obstacles have you had along the way?
I knew the beginning of my journey would be rocky on a count of having zero prior entrepreneurship experience. I am your modern day girl living on budget, so it took a lot of saving and investments to bring everything together. Making decisions and taking steps can also get a bit tricky sometimes but it is also teaching me to align and know exactly what I want as far what I want for my business. Excluding the painted works, I do everything for Dirty Peaches, it is literally my baby! My goal for the growth and future is to form a dedicated team who see my vision just as clearly as I do.
What is your favorite quote?
One of my favorites at the moment is, “Just try new things. Don’t be afraid. Step out of your comfort zones and soar, All right?” Michelle Obama.
Jade is a multi crafter, While Spending most of her days hand pouring candles, she also provides yoni eggs and creates copper jewelry for locs and braids. While Working as an esthetician, Jade embraced the beauty of aromatherapy and setting a peaceful mood in the room through the burning of candles and oils. She focuses carefully on selecting colors and scents to relax the hidden tension and bring tranquility to the enjoyer’s space. Jade also collaborates with artists to paint their own unique art work onto select candle jars. Having beautiful painting on the candles encourages enjoyers’ to repurpose or recycle. Jade believes in uplifting and connecting women through all things feminine, meditative and organic.
