5 Top Tips For A Successful Business Brainstorm

Business brainstorming, a key part of getting ideas flowing and taking action to make your business a success.  But how do you make your brainstorming session productive?

5 Top Tips For A Successful Business Brainstorm

By definition:  Business Brainstorming is the “Process for generating creative ideas and solutions through intensive and freewheeling discussion. Every participant is encouraged to think aloud and suggest as many ideas as possible, no matter seemingly how outlandish or bizarre. Analysis, discussion, or criticism of the aired ideas is allowed only when the brainstorming session is over and evaluation session begins.” *

Jess and I used to brainstorm when we had the time (in between being Mum, running a business, school runs and everything else in between!).  We would always get together and plan our activities on the Female Business Hub.  However, there has recently been a huge shift.

A shift of epic proportions.  We now dedicate a day and at least every 2 weeks to sit down, locked away for the day and just focus on the Female Business Hub.  The shift has come, why?  Because we are doing it more regularly and more focussed.

We are both very precious with our time so I thought I would share my top 5 tips for a successful brainstorm:

  1. Find a buddy to listen, help and be a general sounding board (even better if you have a buddy who also has a business idea, you could bounce off each other, imagine the creative energy!)
  2. Switch off any distractions and make the time (a full day is ideal, but half a day will do).
  3. Be clear about what you want to brainstorm.   You have an idea rattling around in your head, but you need to get it out.  Talk about the idea, freewheeling, be creative and open.  It’s not time for a catch up about school runs or cake sales!
  4. Plan regular sessions to keep the energy and creativity flowing.  Be as creative and crazy as you want!  Add colour, write stuff down!
  5. Start with the end in mind (reminded myself this over on a blog I wrote about it, which you can read here.)  What do you want to achieve from your business brainstorming?

The creativity and energy will flow and you will see a real shift in your ideas.  It works every time for us!

If you have a business idea and like us, your time is precious, why not try these with a friend over coffee?  Let’s see how it can move your business idea into a viable business that can change your life?

Please feel free to share your experiences or ideas?  Or indeed success stories?

Live, love and laugh (and brainstorm)
